A WAR MEMORIAL
University work for a WWII memorial concept for the unsung Filipino heroes. Located in Intramuros, the walled city of Manila, the site is said to be where hundreds of deceased soldiers were found after the month-long war. Thus, requiring this area much needed solemnity and respect.
It is multi-purpose, as it is meant to function as a public park and amphitheater.
Perforations on the lightweight concrete roof have a cruciform, which were configured to have the optimum sunlight and shadows on February 23rd to 28th, the week when the war in Manila was on the intensive. These together with the staggered layout of the blocks, illustrate bullet holes, wounds and the distress that the war brought in the city.
